Well-known member
I walk along the Dodder River in Dublin Ireland most days with my camera

I have not seen this guy before- is it what is termed a ' manky mallard' ??

Many thanks Fugl:eat:

I presume 'not uncommon' means 'common'?

Depends where you live i suppose?

Well, I was hedging a bit. The general type, big with lots of meat on the bones (meat being what most domestic ducks are raised for), the males with varying amounts of green on the head and white on the chest, have been of regular occurrence at “duck ponds” in public parks I’ve visited over the years in the western United States (Bay Area; Portland Oregon; western Nevada) and my impression (haha) is that such ducks are “not uncommon” ;) at similar places in Europe as well.

Anyway, the following might be of interest—
