After a very productive 2024, where I saw a record (for me) 453 species, this year has had a bit of a slow start. I had a bicycle injury in Amsterdam that I slowly recovering from. But I am getting back on my feet and looking forward to some great birding this year.

First proper birding session in a few months. Saw 36 species for the day, and it was great to get out for a few hours at one of my favorite places in Brussels.

There was a Great Egret there today, which is very unusual for this location, so there were many birders out this morning to photograph this occassion.

But for special for me was finally spotting the Eurasian Green Woodpecker, which had eluded me many times over the years until today and one of the most common birds I had been missing in the area. So, a great day all around!
