but cheers for the thrush you know which one, which i saw in 1990 i was 17 and my dad was getting fed up of driving me everywhere! think that one made him buy me a car

anyone who finds a first for britain in an urban area in the middle of winter has my upmost respect.........true birder

Wow Darrell for identifying this bird as a GSW! Although after knowing the answer, this came into my mind: woodpeckers are the easiest birds to photograph with wings closed like that, Black Woodpecker excluded.

Naumann’s Thrush Alex, another bird occurred in the same general area several years later, unfortunately it was only seen by the finder and his wife.

Lightning striking twice! springs to mind, you just never can tell. 😮👍
