Sunday January 08, 2007:
The Sunday bird walk went to Bowen Park in Nanaimo. Sixteen birders found the following twenty-seven species. CANADA GOOSE, MALLARD, MERLIN, BALD EAGLE, GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL, ROCK PIGEON, NORTHERN FLICKER, STELLER'S JAY, NORTHWESTERN CROW, COMMON RAVEN, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE, WINTER WREN, BEWICK'S WREN, AMERICAN ROBIN, VARIED THRUSH, EUROPEAN STARLING, SONG SPARROW, DARK-EYED JUNCO, HOUSE FINCH, PURPLE FINCH, PINE SISKIN, BELTED KINGFISHER, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET, BROWN CREEPER, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH,and a HOUSE SPARROW.
A COOPER'S HAWK was spotted perched in a tree in Barrington Park next to the 3300 block of Barrington Road in Nanaimo

Friday January 05:
50 TRUMPETER SWANS were seen at Brannen Lake in Nanaimo.

Thursday January 04:
Eight CALIFORNIA QUAIL were seen under a bird feeder near Fairwinds in Nanoose Bay
An ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD was seen at feeders in the 2800 block of Parker Road in Nanoose Bay.

Wednesday January 03:
Twelve BAND-TAILED were flying over Fairwinds in Nanoose Bay.

Tuesday January 02:
Two AMERICAN KESTRAL were seen at Cottonwood Golf Course nea the Nanaimo Airport in Cassidy.

Sunday December 31:
A male NORTHERN HARRIER was spoted at the Englishman River Estuary in Parksville.
A MERLIN was perched on a backyard fence along Forest Turn in upper Lantzville.

Saturday December 30:
A flock of over forty EVENING GROSBEAKS are visiting feeders in Comox.

Thursday December 28:
A CEDAR WAXWING, 50 MALLARDS, 40 ROCK PIGEONS, 13 HOUSE SPARROWS, 12 STELLER'S JAYS, 15 AMERICAN ROBINS, 8 SONG SPARROWS, 16 DARK-EYED JUNCOS, one VARIED THRUSH, seven GREATER SCAUP, one GREAT BLUE HERON, 10 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, four COMMON MERGANGERS, two BUFFLEHEADS, 13 PURPLE FINCH, and three PINE SISKINS were seen at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS, DOWNY WOODPECKER, NORTHERN FLICKERS, STELLER'S JAYS, NORTHERWESTERN CROWS, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, BEWICKS WREN, AMERICAN ROBINS, VARIED THRUSH, EUROPEAN STARLINGS, SPOTTED TOWHEES, FOX SPARROWS, SONG SPARROWS, DARK-EYED JUNCOS, PURPLE FINCH, HOUSE FINCH and HOUSE SPARROWS were coming to feeders in the 2100 block of Lancashire Avenue in Nanaimo.
