Narrowed down digiscoping camers? (1 Viewer)

Hi All, i am currently in the process of buying a P&S camera for digiscoping. I have narrowed my search to Nikon Coolpix P-1, P-4, Canon A640, Sony W5\W7, or panasonic FX01. Anyone have any input on theese cameras? your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Cliff

For me, the rotating LCD is the main point, and the A95 is the best camera available with such feature.
The A640 can, in some cases provide OK results but it is very difficult to work wit due to it's limiting x4 lens.

The Canon 640 is difficult to make work with most common eyepieces and the rotatable screen doesn't make up for these difficulties, so I would go with one of the Nikons or the Sony's on this list. I would be interested to know your list of criteria for picking a digiscoping camera. Good luck with your choice, Neil.

Any special reason that you did not look at the Canon Ixus 800. I am thinking about that one to go with my Kowa scope and a 20 wide eyepiece

What scope are you using. Some cameras I would say work better with different scopes and eyepiecs as Neil said. This may influence your choice a little. From reports in the forum I think the Fuji F30 could be a good one.

Thanks everyone for your help< I am using a Alpen 60mm scope and i have tried a Nikon P-4 camera with an Alpen swing away adpt. and a Manfrotto tri pod I am getting really suprising results considering the $200.00 scope. I can use the 3 second delay on the camera or just shoot the picture without delay, its very steady , the more i use it the better it gets I am still taking stills and havent gotten any birdies yet> soon i will have some pics to show> thanks again. one other thing i like is the display on the camera is some much easier to veiw through than the eyepeice of the scope, Cliff
