Naxos and nearby islands (1 Viewer)

Hello!

I should be very happy for information about places and birds on Naxos. I am visiting it in the end of July - beginning of August. (I know, not the best time...) Should also be happy for information on other, nearby islands, like Thira, Antiparos, Paros and Milos!

I've been to Naxos a couple of times during the summer and whilst you're right to say that it's not the best time of year for birdwatching there's still some good stuff to be found. There's one of my trip reports here: http://www.birdtours.co.uk/tripreports/Greece/naxos/naxos-aug-03.htm I'm not sure where I put the other one, I'll search it out.

You may well run into him anyway but I'd recommend contacting Nikos Probonas whose email address I give in the report. He spends the summer on Naxos and may well offer to take you around some of the birding hotspots of the island.

The second report is here: http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=52850&highlight=naxos

If you can get a tour boat to Delos, mythical birthplace of the Greek gods Apollo and Artemis and World Heritage Site, I had magnificent views of Eleonora's Falcons there in August 08 - if you walk up to the highest point on the small island (Mt. Kynthos), they're flying at or below eye level.
