Hi all,
Looking for advice if anyone has some.

I live in a forest side property. I have had the pleasure of being visited by a variety of birds in the trees growing here.
My rather ignorant neighbours have recently set up flashing bird detterent lights in the trees bordering their lawn.
There has been an immediate loss to the local biodiversity, especially the owls and roosting parrots.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how I may attract more birds back?

Welcome to Birdforum.

What a shame about your neighbours. Have you tried talking to them to find out why they want to deter birds?

They are suburbanites who have moved into the rural fringe. Their only intent is to destroy everything natural they can touch. I really don't wish to express my great displeasure further.

Hi, welcome to Birdforum. Have you looked at your relevant wildlife laws? Where I live, deliberately disturbing a roost is an offence.

Hi forestbunyip and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Can you have a word with the council to see if there are any regulations regarding this. It might not, even, come under wildlife, but light nuisance maybe. They stopping you enjoying your property.

You don't by any chance live in/near the Bunya Mountains do you? I love the Bunya trees, though understand they can be dangerous. Had a wonderful day exploring there a few years ago. (it was just looking at your username LOL)

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

I don't live near the mountains, closer to the sea in fact. Bunyips are swamp creatures out of Aboriginal folklore :)
