I recently took delivery of a new TSN-883 with the zoom lens. A really nice scope - not as nice a fov of my previous diascope but really sharp edge to edge. One problem, though: the stay-on-case that is sold for this scope in the US is garbage. It is based on the old style Kowa stay-ons with lots of loose material to get in the way and increase bulk and zips that are problematic if wearing gloves. One would have thought that kowa could learn a lesson from the Swaro, Nikon and Zeiss stay-ons. There is a far better, mot fitted and better designed stay-on for sale in Europe, but the retailers there that I have contacted are not allowed(?) to ship to the US. If anyone has access to one of these and would not mind shipping to me, I'd be glad to hear from them ([email protected].)

I got a pretty good case for a Swarovski from Creedmoor Sports in California for around $35. They don't advertise a case for the 883 yet, but since they sell the scope they'll probably have one available soon.

Steve,
Thanks for the tip. I initially gave gave Creedmoor Sports a call and was told they have no plans to make a cover for the Kowa TSN-773/883.

- BUT I also happened to emailed them with the same inquiry -

I just received a response which states:

We can make a cover. They are $34.98. It will take about 7-10 days. Please
call and ask for me.
Thanks!

It might be that Creedmoor can produce a case for the TSN-88o range. However, if they look anything like the cases that they currently produce for other scopes then there will be no big improvement over the poorly designed case already produced by Kowa. In fact the Creedmoor cases look to me to be virtually identical to the Kowa cases.

Recently I've received new 883 equipped with zoom. I have tested it for chromatic aberration (CA). Looked at two ravens on the snow. CA was obvious. Is it fault of this item or normal thing? It was not so clear as in my previous non-hd scope but visible.

Mariusz

I've got the 774 with a 30x eyepiece, there is alot of technical talk on this thread, which was appreciated when I looked into buying it and found it to be very helpful! However, i recall a post earlier regarding how do these scopes perform on a dark winter afternoon watching Harriers come into roost. Well I have tried in my local area for the Harriers but they are very few and far between lately! I did find myself mouthing 'I love this scope' when i was watching over the bay where I live looking at the Divers/Grebes and seaducks. I wont be telling the wife. This scope is great.

A very brief description of what appears to be a new line of scopes (and binoculars, for that matter) from Kowa appears at http://www.optics4birding.com/O4Blog/O4Blog.html. I could find no mention here of anything like this, figured someone here might be interested.

Pretty much interesting with that. Are there binoculars that use either day or night? If so, I think that kind of binoculars that can use at night have night vision.
