Hi Forum!
Well, yesterday was the excitement of the pileated woodpeckers war almost right in my front yard. Today was something a little different but just as special.
While out for my morning exercise (a half hour walk over two steep hills), I was strolling along listening to the chickadees and nuthatches chatter. I finally realized that I was hearing somehthing different in the mix too. Boreal chickadees! A whole flock of 'em! I haven't seen any since last winter and haven't seen any that close to my yard ( less than a half mile) in about 4 years!
I used to describe their sound as a black cap with laryngitis but I realized this morning that they sound more like a black cap on helium!
It also looked to me this morning that they are smaller than black caps. Is this accurate?
Such adorable little ones! It was a real joy to be able to stand there and watch them chase each other around the tagalder branches.
