Nikon V1 FT1 problem (1 Viewer)

Hi, I've just got my new V1 and FT1 adapter. When I try to attach
my 300 f4 AFS, with or without 1.4 converter I'm getting the message
'Check lens,pictures can only be taken when lens is attached-attach lens'
The 300AFS f4 is supposed to be compatible and it works perfectly
with my D7000. Help!!

The camera thinks there is no lens attached, so it may be a problem with the adapter. Have you tried other Nikon FX or DX lenses with your FT1?

Mark you need to update the V1 firmware for it to see the FT1 adaptor.

I will be very interested to hear how you get on with this combo. I also have the 300 f4 afs lens and am thinking about getting a V1, so once you have got used to using it please consider reporting back on what you think of this set up.

Hi Dave,
First attempts with said combo-Squirrel pic
with 1.4 converter,others just 300 f4.
obviously not as quck as SLR, but a lot
of potential I think and at 1134mm f5.6
and 810mm f4 as these cameras improve
you wonder at how many people will be
carrying around big tele lenses in the future-
interesting times!!

Hi Dave,
These three shots were handheld in reasonable light.
I think I'll get better results with a Monopod for sure,
but if you get good results with an SLR and this lens
then I see no reason why you wouldnt with the V1.
I dont see it replacing my D7000, but there will be
occasions when 1134mm f5.6 (with 1.4) will be rather
useful!!!!!(even if it means carrying a tripod)

Excellent images and very good walk around combination. I find 1/500 sec is enough to handhold and get a good keeper rate.

Lenses included are
native 1 series 30-110 VR
300mm f2.8
70-200mm F2.8 VR ± 1.4TC
300mm F4
55-300mm F4-5.6 VR

I haven't been able to get much better with the D800 than I was getting with the V1. I'll put a comparison up shortly.
