Nile Soft-shell Turtle - Köyceğiz, Turkey (1 Viewer)

There’s little up to date information available in English on the Nile Soft-Shell Turtle in Turkey so thought I’d leave this here. Today I found what looks like a first year hatchling on the Köyceğiz side of the lake. Having seen a few “dinner plate” sized Soft-Shells, as well as a couple of fully grown individuals, here too it suggests they’re still successfully breeding despite habitat pressures.
The only available English language report which is several years old 2032A730-68BF-4BCB-A7F5-CA7F9B09E6B7.jpegindicates nesting sites are severely compromised. The individuals on this side of the lake aren’t anywhere near as tame as the Dalyan NSS turtles which hang around riverside restaurants.
