There’s little up to date information available in English on the Nile Soft-Shell Turtle in Turkey so thought I’d leave this here. Today I found what looks like a first year hatchling on the Köyceğiz side of the lake. Having seen a few “dinner plate” sized Soft-Shells, as well as a couple of fully grown individuals, here too it suggests they’re still successfully breeding despite habitat pressures.
The only available English language report which is several years old indicates nesting sites are severely compromised. The individuals on this side of the lake aren’t anywhere near as tame as the Dalyan NSS turtles which hang around riverside restaurants.
