Nocturnal Cuckoo (1 Viewer)

I heard a cuckoo calling at 1.30 am this morning. In the past I’ve heard them just before dawn but never in the middle of the night. Other people have said they’ve heard them in the middle of the night as well.
Is this unusual? A brief Google search didn’t bring up anything relevant.
FWIW I’m in southern England.
