Northern California Loon (1 Viewer)

Photographed this bird (there was a pair) near Oakland CA this morning. There were numerous reports of a Pacific Loon in this area. I am assuming that is one, given the similarities with the Common Loon, but hoping to confirm. Thank you for your help.

Yep, Pacific Loon. Note the small bill and straight line between light and dark on neck.

Wow, the beak is different from Common Loon. I didn't realize that. People around here (Massachusetts) are always claiming to see Pacific or Arctic Loons but it's usually bogus.
