Geologically oldest Archaeopteryx specimen (153 million years old, found in 2010) to go on display at the new Dinosaurier-Freiluftmuseum Altmühltal in Germany, about 10 kilometers from where the fossil was found by a private fossil collector. The specimen has been declared a Cultural Monument of National Significance [Kulturdenkmal von Nationaler Bedeutung]. With photos (in German)

I posted some news items earlier today on the forum about the Archaeopteryx fossil about to go on public display at the new Dinosaurier-Freiluftmuseum Altmühltal in Denkendorf in Germany. Here is a news story that goes into more detail and has a video. You can download the article as a pdf at the bottom.

This specimen is the 12th Archaeopteryx that was in the news back in 2014 (see http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=277412&highlight=Archaeopteryx). The fossil specimen was originally found in 2010 in fragmented condition and took great effort to prepare and piece together as it now appears. An ammonite is preserved on the slab. This Archaeopteryx is currently the geologically oldest known specimen.

Good photo of 12th Archaeopteryx specimen

The Dinosaurier Freiluftmuseum Altmühltal and Dinopark recently opened in Germany. The 12th Archaeopteryx specimen is now on display at the museum. On the webpage for the museum and park, under Impressionen, is a clear photo of the 12th Archaeopteryx specimen. Click to enlarge and download image. Sorry I can't provide a more direct link to the photo.
