So, my dad was in the Orlando Lakeland area last week and was telling me about some birds he saw. He's a very amateur birder though and wasn't able to get a photo while driving so I don't have a lot to go on with trying to id the species. He says it was a predominately white bird that he saw frequently along the side of the road in the grass. It had an unusual (to him) bill that was curved and from his description it sounds like it wasn't much bigger than a goose but probably wasn't actually a goose.

I'm sure this is a longshot but even some suggestions on bird species to ask him about would be helpful.
