I remember Peter from days in the field in the early 90's. Always good fun and well connected - the survey on the ruling families' island of Marawah being one of the highlights as the prince's staff and vehicles were put at our disposal after Peter's intervention.

His role in the Khaleej Times also meant we were always up to date with the news during the early days of the Gulf war - not so easy in the pre-internet days when the local press was censored from saying the invasion had even occurred.

One of the expat characters of the UAE - will be sadly missed.
