Pipridae (4 Viewers)

I'm the only one to spell it Neopelmatinae ?

It was introduced in 2009 as "Neopelminae" (Tello JG, Moyle RG, Marchese DJ, Cracraft J. 2009. Phylogeny and phylogenetic classification of the tyrant flycatchers, cotingas, manakins and their allies (Aves: Tyrannides). Cladistics, 25: 429-467.; p. 439; https://doi.org/10.1111/j.1096-0031.2009.00254.x ; beware that the 'diagnoses' in this work are not necessarily statements of characters that differentiate the taxon; available thanks to: “The Neopelminae are very strongly supported by […] derived characters of the syrinx (narrow, elongated, and curved [subtle S-shape] internal cartilage; Prum, 1990a)”).

The adopted stem is indeed not classical (the type-genus name ends in the Greek word πέλμα, -ατος, the sole of the foot) but, as the name was proposed after 1999, my understanding is that this "incorrect" stem is protected by Art. 29.4, and that we are stuck with it.
