I am new to this great forum and would greatly appreciate your help. I photographed this bird at my finch feeder in NW Ohio last evening and cannot ID it from my field guide or on the net. Please help. Thanks.

Jeff

The reason you cannot find it is that it is an exotic escapee. Looks like a European Goldfinch Carduelis carduelis to me but someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong ;)

Hello there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

Hi Jeff and a warm welcome to Bird Forum from me too

They really are lovely birds and always lift my spirits when I see one here, especially a flock of them on seed heads in the winter-time - they love teasels

Hope you enjoy browsing the different forums
