I will be up the last weekend of November. I have just done a search and Old Moor is a cracking place with thousands of Golden Plovers. There are a couple of Dotterels nearby too. I notice the Tree Sparrows are in their hundreds so I should be okay there. The RSPB website gave a good coverage too. It is under development but the good thing is the cafe is still going.

(although to a Devonian, the surroundings might look a bit inauspicious in industrial South Yorkshire

I used to pop up to Sheffy from Wolves during my uni days to play for a five a side team called Tetley Rovers and loved the 'industrial' sights of South Yorks. Prepared to be shocked, but I felt I was 'back home' just a wee bit as my family are from Yorks. Actually the real reason was the Stones Bitter ;)

Do you mean the last weekend, Andrew?

There isn't a cafe as such at Old Moor, although you can get various snacks and hot drinks.

Perhaps this should really be under the Old Moor thread! ;) Sorry birdman.

Yes Diane, well spotted! I did mean the Last weekend of November. I looked it up on Streetmap and boy there are a lot of puddles there!
