Hi,

can anyone help identifying this raptor?

My first impression was Common Buzzard, but then it seemed more like a small eagle. In the end for me either one was not really conclusive.

Looks reasonably like a (common) buzzard - can't really see it being anything else.

And there was me thinking it could well be a Booted Eagle, I must get down from the Alps to get my eye in next year

It doesn't seem to have the pale median coverts. The whitish bit in that vicinity looks more like exposed feather-bases (it's certainly in flight-feather moult).

Certainly a bit of a scruff to be sure!
