Red kites (1 Viewer)

I'm one of these people who has never had a good encounter with a red kite before.
I was thinking of going after them in Aston Rowant nature reserve, as I heard the views are good there. Has anyone been there, and can they recommend the area for red kites? I'm as always, interested in photographs and hope this area has a multitude of them, so do correct me if I'm wrong.
Otherwise, I'm stuck with Wales and massive train fares and abysmal timetables

Don't know the location you mention, but it's close to Stokenchurch on the M40, where kites blot out the sun, so it should be very good.

Park in the Forestry Commission car park at Cowleaze Wood, walk to the north end of the car park, cross the road and go down Hill Lane. After 100m go through the left hand gate and follow the path diagonally across the field to a pedestrian gate. Turn right & walk along the path above the deep valley and you will see them overhead, at eye level and from above.
