Revisiting BF - Current binocular collection (1 Viewer)

I have 2 pairs.

Zeiss 8x25
Opticron Aurora 8x42
You did a very good gesture with your Sightron I commend you for that, well done.

Currently the Sightron 8X32 Blue Sky is for sale at a low cost, so it is time to get another.

Regards,

When I was into EDG's I was buying them on eBay for about $1000 to $1200 for any size now it seems the rarity and price have gone up. If you could get a LNIB EDG 8x32 for $1200 that would be a pretty good deal, but I cringe at $1800 for an EDG that has been discontinued for years now. If you like UVHD's why don't you try a Noctivid 8x42? I think it is the best alpha out there.
Be careful with the word best, you and I both have gotten heat (you much more 😛) for using such language. I have the Nocs in 8x, great binoculars and nobody builds them like that, it’s the Rolls-Royce of binoculars. Optically what’s best has been debated here ad nauseam. What one prefers as best for themselves is safer language 👊🏻.

I was under the impression that the EDG 10x42 & 8x32 were the most desirable user/collector models. They seem to fetch the highest prices. I have a nice little collection of 8x binos, both in porro and roofs. And I like some nikons . I use MHG (42) & a Kowa Genesis (33) are my go to Mountain climbing, skiing , shooting in blizzard binoculars 🤪. (Really don’t ski). Porros don’t go out in inclement weather (only Habichts) and the SF is a safe queen. I used a few SE’s but haven’t owned one until today 😄.

Thx for the advice.

And thx to all the other members here with there help on steering me in the right direction and all the great info. Really a great group of people and forum. Thank you BF.

Paul

Hi Lars,

Nice to see you back on BF albeit rather briefly, I had wondered how you are given your frequent contributions in the past, many of which helped me in my decisions for the best tool for the job.
I suspect it is of limited interest, but here is my modest collection - three 7x, and singles of 8x and 10x.
It'd be interesting to see if my workhorse is identifiable amongst the below; I suspect so, as despite a full service and re-armouring last year she is already showing her subsequent 1000+ hours in the field!

The EDG 10x42 and 8x32 are probably the two most popular EDG's if you can get them for a fair price. The EDG 8x32 is bigger than most 8x32's but still pretty compact. I agree that what is the best for one person is not the best for another. That being said, the Noctivid 8x42 is still the best all around 8x42 mm alpha.
Lol, you must’ve been hilariously sarcastic there 😛.

Clearly the FL on the right 😉

I and mostly my wife decided it is time to do an inventory, so I have been busy getting out most
of my collection, so here are some of them. I am only doing this for your entertainment, and I do
not anyone to think I am bragging, etc. Over the years I have tried most all of the top new models,
and have started to collect some of the older best such, as the Zeiss Dialyts.
Collecting binoculars has been my hobby, and at some point I will need to start reducing the lot.
It will be difficult to decide where to start and stop. Note, there are some duplicates.
Also excuse the dust, some of these are used daily, I rotate, and they sit on the bookshelf.

Wow swaro Habicht’s 830 in rubber armor, that’s cool.

Great collection Jerry.
Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting, I wonder what can you comment on the FL 7 vs 10, and also I'm really curious about the small MCF. Saw one for sale yesterday, and it looked rather interesting.

If anyone has questions about the identity of any of these, just ask.
Jerry, thanks for taking your time and sharing your collection, I don't think anyone would see that as bragging, just sharing in an appropriate thread, which I think is just great. I want to take the opportunity and ask you what you've probably been asked many times: what's your favourite? (Since I'm 99,9 % that question has no answer, I'd be grateful if you could pick a shortlist -say 3 or 5 max, you name it-). Thanks!!

Very nice collection indeed, especially the Zeiss Dialyts! But also the Swaro's and Leica's.
I feel confident to buy some more binoculars now ;)

I am pleased you asked the question about favorites. I am not able to answer that one, because once I do that, I am afraid
I will slight something else, and that would make the other ones feel bad. ;)
I should do a top 10, that would be easier to do.
Jerry
