Ruby Crowned Kinglet? (1 Viewer)

Hey Everyone,

I am new to birding in the North East. When submitting my list today at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge (a coastal refuge in NYC), it asked me to add a comment/photo for my inclusion of Ruby-Crowned Kinglet.

After referencing a couple guides and my photo, I am fairly certain, but since it asked me to confirm, I wanted to get some more seasoned opinions.

What do you think?

Thank you all! Just wanted to be sure. Especially when adding a lifer. I have only ever birded in the Dominican Republic, where I live, and am only on Day 3 of doing so in North America (came home for a bit because of the COVID situation).

Appreciate the help! And thanks in advance for any other ID questions I come across this spring.

Definitely a Ruby-crowned Kinglet. eBird only asked for comments or a photo because it arrived a few days earlier than it's expected to. The filters that determine when a migrant bird is flagged for being sufficiently early or late to be considered rare can be set overly conservatively sometimes.

That makes sense about eBirds automated calculations. Better to be conservative than to let newbies like me think they see penguins in the forest, though.
