Rusty warbler, French Pyrenees (1 Viewer)

The glass is half full, but the bottle is empty.
United Kingdom
The rusty is me not the birds! A small flock of what appeared to be warblers caught my attention because of unusually frenetic behaviour on a very hot day, they were all constantly on the move foraging in low bushes beneath trees.

As I said I am very rusty on small birds of this area. I thought Warb1 was a willow warbler at frirst but now I not sure and the other bird which I assume has hatched this year has me stumped.

Any suggestions gratefully received, please give reasons for the ID so I can learn, thanks.

David

Hello David,

the first ones are moulting Chiffchaffs/Iberian Chiffchaffs imo. Please compare to this recent thread: Young bird debate

The last picture with a different bird is difficult for me. At first, I wrote the following:
the last one is a Willow Warbler, despite blackish legs. Please note head pattern and long pp with only three emarginations.

But I think your birds are for those with much experience with Iberian Chiffchaff

I have posted this before: (Iberian Chiffchaff, Spain, August 1999)

Like you, I hope for others to jump in. Thanks!

Thanks, Alexander, like you I hope more will jump in. I should have said that the sighting was today.
Any more thoughts?

Thanks again Alexander, no other observations so I'll go with you on this although I am puzzled by some of the colours on the young ones.
David
