screech-owl's bird quiz (1 Viewer)

none right, but Larry was the closest, size wise.

Here is a clue for American birders (or others if you know somethings about US birds!):

think greasy

We need another clue, "greasy" did nothing for me!

(I thought waxwing might relate or Oilbird but waxwing was wrong and Oilbird does not occur in the US.)

Yellow-headed Blackbird ?

Yellow-headed Blackbird is too big. This bird is a late breeder, since it waits for a certain plant to go to seed.

This probably gave it away. ;)

Correct! American Goldfinch!

The first clue "greasy"- some people say that the goldfinches flight call is "potato chip, potato chip" hence greasy.

They breed late to collect the soft plant material that thistle has (used to lift seeds into air). New quiz soon.
