Hello everyone.

A female seedeater encountered in Costa Rica in the town of Sierpe, province of Puntarenas.

I thought of a "yellow belly", but a "slate" might do the trick.

Your help would be welcome for this single photo of the bird.

With thanks.

Cordially.

Stan

cordialement.
Stan

Perhaps female variable seedeater?

I feel the beak shape is wrong for slate-coloured (it also isn't clearly bicoloured). It might be yellow-bellied, but I think the bill is perhaps better for variable.

(Guides say females aren't safely separable in many cases. However I feel I see a slight difference in bill shape between these 2 species in Macaulay images)
