A bit of a mad night with just over 450 moths of 31 species, with 367 Large Yellow underwings easily breaking my previous record. Lesser Yellow Underwing (13) and Square-spot Rustic (11) were the only others to get into double figures and Angle-striped Sallow was the only NFY.

WOW!👍

Late for a Swallowtail Ken! What's the moth in your last pic., I can't place it?

No fireworks last night/am, just 10 of 15 (not helped by rising at 6.30, just in time to see the Robin “winging away” from the trap.😩
However, a Yellow Shell and a “late” Mocha, was better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.🤣

Really slow here, and the 1st I didn't even get out to check the sheets. Spent most of the weekend trying to recover 200K pics from a HD that decided to quit on me in the middle of moving my Lightroom library.

It’s been pointed out to me, that I’ve inadvertently placed Thursday night’s thread in August Moths…apologies😩

Didn’t run the trap last night albeit I left the patio security light on and had-
3 Light Emeralds, 2 Square Dot Rustics, Willow Beauty and my first Red-Green Carpet of the season.

Numbers have picked up this week, and the last two nights have produced catches of 145/21 and 171/24. Nothing particularly unusual but my catches of 10 Angle Shades and 15 Setaceous Hebrew Characters yesterday were both new records for my garden, only to be eclipsed by 24 and 25 respectively today.

Autumnal moths are pretty few & far between with my only Sallow being Centre-barred Sallow. Old Lady is having a good year locally & currently Large Yellow Underwings are in exceptional numbers capturing around 500 per night but otherwise Flounced Rustics have peaked & now Vine's Rustics & Setaceous Hebrew Charatcer make up numbers. Common Wainscot has had a reasonable late brood. A few L-album Wainscots & multiple Olive Pearls (Palpita vitrealis) & White-points at the moment.

A reasonable 96 species to 5 lights at our local rewilding site on Monday 3rd September included a very worn Porter's Rustic as well as Pandemis cinnamomeana, Acleris emargana, Beautiful Chinamark, Donacaula forficella, Spruce Carpet, Tawny-speckled Pug & Lilac Beauty.

I continue to identify Spiny Hooktip (Watsonalla uncinula) locally & had one on 3rd September with the opportunity to compare it to Oak Hooktips (Watsonalla bilunaria). That is subject to gendet really....

All the best

Paul
