Taken on 21 August at Dera Ismail Khan
I and some others inclined towards Brown Shrike.....
I think maybe a first winter female...no whitish outer tail edges, vermiculated buffish underparts, tapered thin tail, biggish head, browner head and upper body and brightish looking tail
Another thinks Red Backed.....the bill head not large enough for Brown
The date is more in line with this species passing through.
Brown Shrikes have only ever been recorded November and onwards and always on the Sindh Coast. There have been 11 records from last 5 years. Of course location isn't such a big deal.
It looks a bit tatty for a juvenile too?
