Snipe drumming in November (1 Viewer)

A few nights ago (around the time of the super-moon), I distinctly heard a snipe drumming in the middle of the night. It was a very bright moonlit night.

I always assumed this was a spring thing but you're probably going to tell me that this is a pretty common thing to hear in autumn/winter!

Great link, thanks Andy. Unusual but not unknown, then.

Seems like it but I bet most birders haven't heard it. Tbh, until I found the article, I was on the verge of asking if you were sure that's what you heard.

We have displaying Snipe over our home in Russia in the summer but they disappear for winter so no chance here!

Seems so long ago at the moment (-18c overnight this week) that we sit outside listening to drumming Snipe and the all night song of Thrush Nightingale.

At WWT Martin Mere and RSPB Leighton Moss and along the Fylde coast here there have been lots of Snipe and Jack Snipe this Autumn and they are still here. Snipe diving and drumming brings back lots of memories for me.

Whereabouts was that?
That must be unusual for November.
