Swans V Avain bird flu (2 Viewers)

Sadly at our local pond the parent swans and cygnets have succumbed to bird flu, the complete family wiped out.
Although still plenty of ducks and still see the Herons. They were resident for the last 10 years and successfully raised many Cygnets.

My question is is a new pair of swans likely to take up residence next year?

Difficult to answer with any degree of confidenve, so many variables to consider ie, how many other Mute swans may succumb to this disease over the winter period and whether any surviving birds wander or move into this now acant territory.
