Hi all,
I am new to this group.
Last evening I saw a parakeet feeding at my backyard bird feeders. When I went to check, it let me get very close and was obviously not a wild bird. Later it had gone to sleep on the ground by the feeders. Cats prowl my back yard sometimes, so to keep it safe, I caught it in pillowcase (no struggles from the bird) and placed it in a cage with birdseed and water. Only then did it seem to wake up completely. It found the seed immediately and began eating. Later I saw it drink water. Last evening it had gone to sleep, and at 11:30 last night was still sleeping in the same spot.
This morning when I checked on it, I could not see it at first. Then I found it on the other side of the water dish, upside down, obviously gone. When I took it out, I found a metal tag on its leg.
The tag is green with "E19127AAA07" imprinted on the tag. What does this mean? Is this to track a lost bird? If so, I would like to contact the right group or person? Can anyone tell me what this means, or what to do next?
Thanks.
