Is there any locations near Lagoa or anywhere in the South of Portugal that are worth trying for Western Orphean Warbler and Eurasian Eagle Owl? Also is there any online groups or anywhere where you can review the latest rare bird news for Portugal?

Hi Kernow Pete,

For the warbler the most reliable place in the Algarve is at Juncais, 2 km west of Alportel (which lies about 18 km north of Faro).

For the owl not easy at this time of year but try near old quarries.

For rare bird news, if you use Facebook I suggest you join the group Rare Birds Algarve.

Hope this helps.
