Professor Dr Alfred Voeltzkow (1860-1847) was a German palaeontologist, collector, traveller and zoologist who spent many years in East Africa. He travelled in Zanzibar and Pamba (1889-1895), was in the Comoro Islands (1906) and at some stage visited the island of Aldabra. His East African collection is in the Natural History Museum in Vienna. A mammal is named after him.

Ethnologisches Museum, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, confirms his years, and dates (here): "Alfred Voeltzkow (14.4.1860 - 29.12.1946), Sammler [Collector]" (even if they also have "1860-1947" further down on the same page).

As well, note that BHL has him as: "Voeltzkow, Alfred, 1860-1946", also as such in/on VIAF here.

Either way, take it for what it's worth.

The spelling is Voeltzkow in the death record and in most other sources, so I see no good reasons not to use this.

b) Otto Rudolf Alfred Voelzkow, * Berlin 14 April 1860, studierte in Heidelberg, Berlin, Freiburg und Würzburg, promov. 20. Jan 1888 in Freiburg zum Dr. phil.; seit 20. Dez. 1900 königlich preuß. Professor, seit 1903 Rittmeister der Reserve, Dragonerregiment 15; von Beruf Zoologe und Forschungsreisender. Seine Hauptarbeiten:
1. Beiträge zur Entwicklungsgeschichte der Reptilien (insbes. des Krokodils);
2. Wissenschaftliche Resultate einer Reise nach Ostafrika und Madagaskar in den Jahren 1889-1895. Drei Bände in 4° mit über 100 Tafeln;
3. Wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse einer Reise in Ostafrika 1903-05. Im Erscheinen 5 Bände in 4° mit etwa 200 Tafeln.
Zur Zeit ist seine Arbeit beim Aufbau und der Entstehung der Riffe und Korallenbauten gewidmet, und dies war auch die Veranlassung für seine lezte Reise nach Afrika.
