The Bushnell Forge 10x42 weighs less than the Bushnell Forge 8x42... Why?... How many elements / groups does each version have? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know why the Bushnell Forge 10x42 weighs less than the Bushnell Forge 8x42?:

Bushnell Forge 8x42
30.8 oz = 873 g

Bushnell Forge 10x42
30.4 oz = 862 g

Usually 10x42 versions weigh more than their 8x42 siblings as they normally feature extra lenses (to achieve extra magnification) while maintaining the same housing / chassis / armoring, but in this case it's quite the opposite. Does anybody know why?

How many elements / groups does each version have?

The eyepieces and even the prisms may be smaller.

Published specs are often wrong.

So, firstly one has to weigh both.

Then measure the fields of view and number of elements in the eyepieces by counting reflections.

The early and later USSR 12x40 don't weigh the same as the eyepieces differ.

As to Bushnell, they often have misleading specs.
The 4x21 is 3.4x or 3.5x.
The 5x25 is 4.4x.
There are other wrong specs also.

B.
