Though It's Been Awhile Now (1 Viewer)

Though it's been awhile now since I was a boy
My journey in life a memory to enjoy
Many the highway and byway I've driven up and down
Since I left Claraghatlea a mile from Millstreet Town
I do live far south of Hibernia's shore
And old Clara hill above high Claramore
But in memory in Springtime I walk in the old fields again
And I hear the birds sing in the drizzling rain
And where the stream rapids are babbling along
The dark brown white breasted dipper is on song
The great gift of memory a marvellous thing
In far leafy groves I can hear the birds sing
And bluebells and snowdrops and primroses to be seen
Blooming on the ditch of the pebbly bohreen.
