Three for id if possible please.

1. Part of a ring of fungi on grassland. Cap was 4cm across

2 & 3. On grassland with beech and birch in the vicinity. Cap was approx 12cm across

4 & 5. Also on grassland with pine and beech in the vicinity. Cap was 6-7cm across.

Many thanks.

Hi Dave,

Hmm not sure on the first but I'd first think about Clitocybe rivulosa for anything funnel shaped and in grassland.....

The second might be an unusually pale Amanita rubescens because of the whitish gills, pendulous ring, scaly veil remnants on the cap and blotches of red.

The third should be Xerocomus porosporus - In my experience this species quite likes parkland with conifers and is quite easily identified by its cracking cap and quite boring grey colour.

Cheers,
Nick

That's great, many thanks Nick.

I have quite a few more possibles for id so i hope you don't mind all the potential requests over the next few weeks. We are currently in the Darwin Forest in Derbyshire all week, turning the place upside down searching for fungi.

Bring it on!

Do me a favour and throw in the odd Ascomycete if you can? As much as I love all these big Agarics I do like some of the little guys too!

Cheers,
Nick
