The Committee for Struggling To ID Obscurely Marked Olethreutinae wondered if this poorly photographed specimen might ring any bells with anyone. Another week, another one that looks like at least half the moths in Sterling & Parsons, depending on how you look at them.

Have a look at Enarmonia formosana (Cherry Bark Tortrix).

Thank you — it was on my shortlist and there are plenty of cherry trees nearby. But it’s not one I’m familiar with and I couldn’t find any feature that seemed to nail the ID. Any tips?

Just the general dark ground colour and the contrasting white dashes on the dorsum.
