tripod and head for vortex razor (2 Viewers)

OMG, what the *%$$ - what a mare - where to start? Please just tell me what to buy - I'd rather buy a good quality second hand than a cheap new one and don't care if it looks shabby as long as it works and is likely to keep doing so. Under £150 I hope :)
does it matter what scope I have - surely any scope will work on any pod?
I see Manfrotto and Siuir and fluid heads and plates, no kitchen sink :-(
Any help would be good. This looks like a mare and possibly more expensive than a scope; there are scores of them, and I know you'll say it depends on what and where it's for - general all-terrain birdwatching - shore, hills field.
MANY many many thanx ~S

This looks like a mare and possibly more expensive than a scope; there are scores of them, and I know you'll say it depends on what and where it's for—general all-terrain birdwatching—shore, hills field. It's lightweight, rugged, and all-around, perfect for no money, and if it could carry itself, too, that would be great. But seriously, eBay is where I will be looking; I absolutely can not get to a shop.
I forgot to add - they all seem short 140 150 cm - I'm 6 feet, not that tall, and don't fancy being bent double looking through a straight scope. Is this right, or am I missing something? Yes, I am, of course.

Click on the "Tripods and Heads" section of the forum. At the top of the posts you will see "A Tripod Primer". You might find it helpful to read it.

The other thing to do is go to take your scope to a camera shop with a large selection of tripods - not to buy one, but to get some hands-on experience. That's worth a hundred posts on this forum.

You also need to tell the forum the make and model of scope you have.

Is the 140 /150cm height you are quoting with or without the centre column fully extended ?

Bear in mind that you will need a head to go on the tripod legs which will add to the height.

I'd get the Manfrotto128RC head for a Vortex Razor. Scope foot fits directly into it without needing a view destroying plate. However that will probably eat up your 150 quid budget.

....and a Manfrotto 190/290 to go with it. About as inexpensive as you can go. I used this combo for years.
