Felt like the layout round the lake has changed since last I was here but eventually found a spot to park to walk on for this "benefit of the doubt" duck

Reasonably good views of a single honey buzzard this morning compared to last years brief encounter.

Spent the rest of the day in the area with other members of the team catching up with Goshawk, Crossbill, Marsh tit etc but didn't connect with the hoped for spotted flycatcher.

After a rather disappointing week of seeing birds come and go while being stuck at work, a much needed evening foray for Nightjar.

Invited for a run down to Kent, just back from a long drive and successful trip.

Brilliant performance from the falcons. We had started our return trip before new of the Sardinian warbler and decided not to turn about as we were targeting a couple of butterfly species. Heath fritillary and Adonis blue successfully picked up after some helpful local information.

Excellent showy bird giving scope filling views. After this, headed up towards Potteric but negative news on the Purple heron saved me an entrance fee. Always reluctant to spend money with the YWT after their appalling actions with regard to the building of the Spurn visitor centre, so almost glad the bird left!

Final country of the trip added today. More of the same species plus Grey wagtail. Didn't get to stop and bird as much as I'd have liked as on a guided tour. A few singing birds like blackcap, blackbird and lesser whitethroat heard but not seen so don't make the trip list.

Gruelling travel day with delays on both flights and road closures on the drive home in the small hours but an unexpected Polish tick at the airport (Since I seem to have gotten a bit obsessive over keeping a list for each country I visit, however briefly), a pair of wheatears back and forth around the flight gate.

So final trip count was an uninspiring 46 species with country totals of 43 in North Macedonia, 21 in Serbia, 13 in Kosovo, and 4 in Poland but since all birding was incidental, can't really complain.

Evening drive over for the shrike was very pleasant with a supporting cast of Black-browed albatross, all the regular seabirds, corn bunting and barn owl.

Some unforseen personal matters have curtailed any recent birding, but was offered a lift down to Cambridgeshire on Sunday for a UK first and couldn't pass up the opportunity.
