Intriguing corruption -
Vanzolini, P.E. (1981) The scientific and political contexts of the Bavarian Expedition to Brazil. In: von Spix, J.B. & Wagler, J.G. (Eds.), Herpetology of Brasil. Society for Study of Amphibians and Reptiles, New York, pp. ix–xxix.

(It doesn't seem to be its first occurrence -- see this.)

Obviously, Johann Baptist von Spix and Johann Georg Wagler won't have been able to act as "Eds." for a 1981 publication. This volume seems to be a facsimile reprint of Spix and Wagler's herpetological work -- presumably :
Published in 1981, with an introduction by Paulo E Vanzolini, and edited by Kraig Adler.
