Good Morning Forum!
I've had almost no time on here at the past week.... packing to move next month.
On a trip into town last Saturday tho', we did spot one kestrel flying around but the back lighting was too bad to tell if it was male or female. I thought I heard one calling in the trees in my backyard last weekend too but I only saw the one. It's a start!
The other migrant I spotted yesterday, under my feeders, made my whole day. I finally saw my beloved purple finch (a male) on the ground under the feeders. I'm hoping he's the first of many that will spend the entire summer with me.
Still very few juncos, no sparrows.... even only a dozen starlings and no grackles yet (key word, here!). Considering it's the middle of April, migration seems to be going awfully slow here this year. The purples are a full month later this spring than last. Amazing how things change from one year to the next.
I'm thrilled with these sightings anyway!
