Bird seen on open grassland in front of our house. Size of a Jay and had White wing bars, but a speckled breast similar to a thrush. This was pale pink/beige. I couldn’t see any of the blue colouring that I would expect with a Jay. it was ground feeding and hopped with both feet together very similar to a Jay. I watched this through binoculars but it was too far away too. Get anything like a decent photo.
Any ideas would be gratefully received thanks

Hi there, welcome to birdforum.

Jay does have a white wing bar, so if the impression was of Jay, maybe it was simply that the blue wasn't apparent at that distance. If you have even a poor photo, probably it will be enough for some on the forum to identify.

PS I am assuming you are in the UK. Location helps for folk to assist you with the id 👍

Hi Pam and a warm welcome from me too.

If it looks like a jay and hops like a jay … it probably IS a jay😅
Have you been watching Judge Judy? LOL

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

Hi, Pam can’t help with an ID. Just wanted to welcome you to the forum.
