URGENT! Found baby crested pigeon. Need Help (1 Viewer)

This morning we found a baby crested pigeon in our front yard hiding behind a fence post as my small dog was trying to attack it. We picked it up and brought it inside. I now have it in one of my small bird cages with some seed and water however I'm not entirely sure that its old enough to eat it on its own. I just need some advice please on what to do. I have included a picture of it if anyone knows roughly how old it is. Thanks

Hi iikezzii and a warm welcome to you on behalf of the Staff and Moderators.

We have guidelines for you here.

If it is a baby, pigeons are usually fed on a 'milk' from the adults crop, which is why it is essential to get the bird into an experts hands as soon as possible.

Good luck and let us know the outcome please.

I agree - baby pigeons are fed with pigeon milk which the mother makes. It won't eat seeds if it's in that stage, I have the feeling it might be safest to hand it over to wildlife/bird rescue centres etc.
