Actually it was not a full day, just about 2 hours spent this afternoon at Grove Ferry, east of Canterbury....an English Nature wetland area with plenty of reed beds and water. The first sight that greeted me was loads of Swifts flying just above head height, low I was told due to the weather conditions,,,no need for bins they were flying round my head...in the space of 2 short hours I saw two female marsh harriers, one Male..absolutely stunning...superb views and eleven Hobbies...not the same oneeleven times either! they seemed to be all over the place...throw in a couple of Gargeny and my first ever view of a Cuckoo as well as waders, three little egrets and I had the best two hours birding I have ever had....and ass thunder and rain was threarened I almsot didn't go. Les.

Sounds like a great day there Les.

I've had a good one too...and I almost didn't go out as thunderstorms were forecast up here too! Glad I DID go though...had some super birds, three new year ticks and we seem to be the only part of Northumberland which did NOT get torrential rain!
ELEVEN hobbys!!! Wow....I'm still waiting for my first!!! LOL

Glad you had a good time Les. I was there on Saturday and had a great day - it has to be the place to see Hobbies.
