Can someone please help in IDing this little guy. Can't seem to find one with similar markings in my books.

Looks as though you have a morphed LBJ of some sort?
Don't have my "Sibley" handy to help you.

I am no expert on American birds but this is not a sparrow of any kind. Try looking at the icterid section of your books.

Thanks guys, off to re-check SIbley's under RWB ... shot in an area with a lot of sparrows, perhaps that's what set me off in sparrow direction ...
