I have recently inherited a Bushnell Spacemaster II scope and Bushnell tripod from my late father. I can't figure out how use the three armed adapter. Is anyone familiar with this?

Thanks,
Bob

Here is some information about your scope.
A little more about the tripod, such as a model name, model number or further pix might help us help you.
Edit: maybe it is just a retainer for the head screw. One unscrews it before putting the scope or whatever on. Keeps the head screw from getting lost. Because the scope certainly only has a normal screw thread.

your tripod? Like most other folks I have to trawl the interweb for such information.)

I can't find a model number on the tripod. The box says Bushnell #78-3100 All Purpose Tripod.
Here's a better photo of the tripod head

I didn't see the last part of your post before I replied. Yes, that looks like my tripod. It looks like the 3 pronged device is on the other side of the head. Maybe it helps tighten the scope onto the pad.

Thanks for the links, too!!

That's right. In your original and later photos, it is on the wrong side of the head. The three pronged piece is threaded and allows for tightening after the center screw is threaded as far as it can go into the scope foot [It takes up any slack in the center screw].
