Hello, from west central Ohio. We have been watching our feathered friends for years. We have 5 wren houses in our back yard. Get up at day break and listen to all the happy singing all day long and into the evening. Its been about 4 weeks since we have seen or heard the wrens and also the cardinals, bluejays, robins and finches. A friend who lives two blocks away notice the same thing. Havent seen any birds besides the sparrows and starlings. Sure miss the singing. Its been very very dry here, and really dont need to mow. So what has happened to them all? They only raised a nesting or two. They usually stick around till the end of september into october. This has never happened before. What gives? Thanks

If breeding season is done than birds are often less vocal. Also if the drought is unusual in your area its possible that it has influenced food distribution, which has resulted in some changes in foraging areas.

Also bird distribution and occurrence is just plain weird over the last few years, thanks to the timing of events being thrown off by climate change.

Hello, To all who read my post Where Have they Gone. We have not seen one wren since my posting in August. It december 9th here in west central ohio. We just seen a male carolina wren on the porch going thru the bark in a barrel for fire starter for my wood stove. Its 50 degrees and light rain. Is this normal to still be around in december? Very happy to see this. Thanks Have a good day

Caroline Wrens are here year-round. I heard one this AM in eastern PA.
