Why buy SFL 8x40 and not Conquest 8x32? (1 Viewer)

I am not aware that Terras were first produced in Japan. I have an early version, and it is labeled „China“.
The 8x25s were originally made in Japan - not sure when they switched or whether all Terras were originally produced in Japan.

Correct, I forgot the 8x25 (I was thinking about 8x32, 8x42 and 10x42, since the discussion was about the SFL). Zeiss switched production to China in 2020.

Photos of our Terras (8x32s, which we no longer have) bought in UK in 2015, clearly show CHINA next to the underside of the hinge.

According to this Allbinos review the 42mm Terras were always made China and introduced in Jan. 2013.

Zeiss has confirmed the 32s and 42s were always made in China, but the Terra Pockets were originally made in Japan then transferred to China.
