Wild baby bird got in petroleum oil (1 Viewer)

I tried washing it away with Ajax (the only thing i had at that moment) . I think most of the oil is gone , but bird has hard time opening eyes. It tried couple times but i guess it burns or painful . Also bird acts like he is suffocating, maybe some oil got in nostrills or lungs. Now the bird is dry and seems to be doing a little bit better, but I really dont know how else can help the bird? My husband just brought Dawn to remove oil. I don't know if i should do the second cleaning? I dont want to put the bird under stress again and i cant really clean his nostrils anyway. Bird still smells like oil but there is barely any left , he seems pretty clean.
Is there any way to help him with breathing?

Hi Liruel and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. You really need to get in touch with your local humane society, they are usually well used to handling birds and getting them clean from oil spills and such.

Meanwhile this is a fledgling (but I don't know which species) and we have some general guidelines here for the care of injured and baby birds until you can get professional help.

I'll move your post to the ID forum to see if they have any idea, as this may decide what you can feed him if he looks hungry, maybe he'd take some mealworms or similar.
