Cheers, always nice to receive a compliment on ones pecker.
A trip to Cleveland...
Just back from a week in Norfolk - I see seven lucky birders saw this bird - anyone we know, and how many of the seven had seen either of the previous two - just curious?
Highlights in Norfolk - 16 Spoonbills together - quite a sight - managed a shot of twelve, but had to settle for a twelve and a four - they wouldn't all fit in the view! From a photography aspect, highligt was three Little Egret feeding a few yards away for long enough - at least an hour, and I had the hide at Cley to myself all the time I watched.
Also Purple Hairstreaks from the Sheringham Park gazebo were good - finally looking down on them for once.
Super shots Martin.
Meanwhile the rain pours and the sorting continues..
Hi Steve
Also just back from a few days in Norfolk, blithely unaware of the Pacific Swift so I didn't fret! Saw the Spoonbills and Egrets at Cley but the weather was foul on Thursday morning so we didn't stop. It brightened up at Titchwell later and we had a good afternoon. The highlights being juvenile Yellow Wag and a good close up Little Ringed Plover. Lots of Marsh Harriers and a very nice Spotted Redshank.
Went to Snettisham for the first time Friday, way too late for high tide but still excellent birding including good views of a couple of Med Gulls, a flock of very smart summer Blackwits and (finally) a brief Grasshopper Warbler.
I love the Dales but it is always a real treat to visit the east coast.:eat:

Yes, Tuesday - Thursday pretty poor. Friday was good - saw a nice Essex Skipper at Cley. Have friends down there still and apparently it hasn't stopped raining since Saturday morning - lightning this afty.
That LRP shot is an absolute cracker!
Thanks but not driving 90 miles to photograph a rat!
Re the Little Gulls; assuming theres a couple of hundred, are they generally dropping into the area where the yachts are beached?
Trying to plan a day out this week and would like to iinclude the Little Gulls at Hornsea. Can anyone update me on how many are currently at Hornsea and what time they are arriving? Other considerations are what else is in the area, what's on Filey Brigg at the moment, any other suggestions?
Not been able to get there so far and I cant get to Blacktofts until Thursday - if the old Marshy hangs around that long - pigs might fly springs to mind..... Anyhow - if by some magic it is still there the RSPB website states it is open till 9pm or Dusk (so assume 9pm) - in reality is this the case - dont want to turn up at say 8pm and the place is locked up.
Has the bird been showing in the evening on a regular basis or is the tide affecting its whereabouts?
Also - read the earlier posts about the local idiots - is there any of these doughnuts hanging around the place/car park on an evening? Dont need that s**t, I can go to Fairburn for that!!!!
Cheers for any info.
